Sumfile columns were slightly misaligned, the problems were fixed. It was discovered that the CTD files had bad data filled with stars accross the lines. The lines were removed for the purpose of re-creating exchange because they were causing a problem for the NETCDF files. All files were replaced.

Rfmt SUM CTD into WOCE frmt.
CTD has been converted to exchange and put online.
I think that the best thing to do is for you to edit the files you have, replacing the asterisks with missing data values, which I'm pretty sure is what they represent. No further work was done by me on the files beyond the versions you have, though it is possible that Jim Ledwell at Woods Hole did some further work. This cruise was very far from being a standard hydrographic survey so the data coverage was very atypical.
Sumfile line number was changed from AR11 to AR10. Dates on table and index page were changed from Apr 22 - Jun 3, 1993 to Apr 22 - May 24, 1993. Doc file was added to index page. CTD header in all files was changed from 74AB78/1 to 74AB78_1 and line number was changed from AR11 to AR10. There is a problem with several of the CTD files in which the ctd temp and salinity were truncated and data columns contain asterisks where values *should* be. PI will need to be contacted for a course of action to take on these files.
The only bottle data are the sf6 concentrations. Associated with each one of these measurements are T, S, and P from the CTD. I suspect you don't have the sf6 data in any form, but please let me know if you do. And if you don't, please let me know if you really want them, as they are rather specialized.
Thanks for the offer, but I think it's in our best interest to pass on the SF6 data, since it is so specialized. We _would_ be interested in any documentation or cruise reports that you may have laying around in electronic form (PDF, MS Word, plain ASCII, postscript, etc.).
2000.01.13 Original files: cd78wct.tar contains 205 station ctd files cd78.sum contains sumfile for cruise 74AB78_1 SUM: Edited out the leading 1 leading space in the first column of all headers and data. Edited the longitude degree column from i2 to i3 to account for lons greater than 99degs. Changed backslash to underscore in expocode. Added date stamp. sumchk: edited file passes with no errors. The edited sumfile was renamed ar10_esu.txt and moved to parent directory. CTD: Files run thru wctcvt with errors. Files will need reformatting and should be sent to Sarilee Anderson. Files were untarred for format checking then zipped, renamed ar10_ect.zip and moved to the parent directory then encrypted in ar10_ect.asc.
