One of the CTD files had a problem in the header. The problem was corrected and the changes are now online.
Bottle file was reformatted. The STNNBR line was missing a space at the begining which was making the wocecvt code crash. There was also another change made, the sample numbers were decreasing so Danie's code was run to change the ordero to the increasing standard. These changes were made in response to Dr. Reiner's email.
CTD has been converted to exchange and put online, no data problems in JOA. Special note: Out of the 50 CTD files only 22 exchange files were produced. There are several files that contain data for the same Station and Cast number, expocodes and dates match but data is different. Example: EP692_67.WCT EP692_68.WCT EP692_69.WCT, the three files contain data for station 67 cast 1.EP692_67.WCT seems to have been taken with a different instrument number. That is only noticeable difference. Exchange code used only one set of files.
CTD data available online has been divided because of copies within directory. The copies were zipped and put into original. The copies contain CTD file names with increasing station/casts. Bottle in directory was modified to fit the sumfile original format of having 1, 2 and 3 for cast numbers instead of increasing cast numbers. Old files were moved to original and exchange code for bottle data was re-run to have updated version of bottle in exchange code online. Changes were made based on a decision by Danie and Kristy McTaggart.
New CTD files uptained via ftp from PMEL were placed in this line's original subdirectory, however because these data have differring header information and data values, no action was taken at this time. Email requestion clarification was sent to K. Mc Taggert at PMEL. Action will be taken pending response.
31DSEP692_2 replacement ctd data to correct station/cast missmatch, however new data submission is also incorrect. McTaggert will need to be contacted again regarding this problem.
Sumfile casts were modified to fit proper station/cast format assigned according to documentation. New sumfile was put online. Bottle file was converted into exchange format and put online. CTD data headers were modified. Also, CTD file names were modified to fit bottle cast/station numbers. New zipped file was put online. All old data was moved to original directory.
We have found PR16 cruises which have missmatched cast numberings between bottle and sumfiles. It appears that although the sumfiles have normal cast numbers (i.e. sequentially increasing for each station) the bottle files have sequentially increasing cast numbers for all stations throughout the file. However, the bottle file's cast numbers don't have a logical (to us) starting number that would make it easy to correct. Can you please comment or correct this problem? To PR16's are 3175EP191_1 and 31DSEP692_2.
I did not realize that the data were in non-public status. Feel free to release it to the community at large (recognizing that not all data meets "WOCE specifications"). Don't hesitate to contact us if there are further questions. Rik W. PR16 31DSEP692_2 BTL
WHPO has a raw sum file, a raw non-public bottle file with s/o2 (PI has NUTS), non-public CTD, and a doc file.
