    Attached is a revised version of Triona McGrath's 2010 bottle data from the Rockall Trough region. This version contains CTDOXY values that have been re-calibrated. Awhile back Jim S. and Triona had a discussion regarding the calibration procedure. Jim correctly answered the questions that Triona posed, however, the questions that Triona asked weren't quite right. As a consequence, in the earlier version Triona simply applied an offset correction (+14.2umol/kg). 
    
    After this adjustment there still remained a significant difference between the CTDOXY and the bottle oxygen. After examining the data I had her go back to the original data and go through a more standard (simple) regression calibration procedure. The CTDOXY data in the bottle file are now much better.

    The data itself seems to have had the trailing zeros truncated from the decimals, This is common in excel.
    These  zeros were put back in to conform with the cchdo formats. Zeros were only added to the max

    Data file CE10002_CTD_edit was sent to J.Swift by data originator Triona McGrath. The file contains updated CTD oxygen sensor data for this cruise. A bit of documentation regarding this was sent in a email to CCHDO@ucsd.edu on 04SEP2013. 
    
    The 2010 CTD data across the Rockall Trough (CE10002_CTD) on CCHDO should be updated to calibrate the oxygen data with the Winkler results. I have attached an edited version of the datafile where the oxygen sensor values have been corrected by +14.2 umol/kg through the water column. In the data information it does outline that the sensor data have not been corrected, therefore it might be best to update this. Also it appears that Station 1 from this survey should not be used as it was just to test the sensors at the beginning of the survey.

    The CTD salinity versus the laboratory salinity results give an r-squared of 0.9996. The precision was calculated as the standard deviation of the absolute value of CTD salinity minus bottle results and the accuracy was calculated as the average of absolute value of CTD salinity minus bottle results. Both accuracy and precision are 0.008. Oxygen winkler samples taken, however the sensor data is not corrected. Contact Triona McGrath

CDIAC has already posted the bottle data files ( http://cdiac.esd.ornl.gov/oceans/Coastal/Rockall_Trough.html ) and has some metadata for these two cruises. Contact for these data is Triona McGrath. Below I attach the note from Triona concerning the CTD data precision/accuracy/calibration

    Hi Robert,
    
    Here are the CTD files from the two surveys. The CTD salinity versus the laboratory salinity results give an r-squared of 0.9996 for both surveys. The precision  was calculated as the standard deviation of the absolute value of CTD salinity minus bottle results and the accuracy  was calculated as the average of absolute value of CTD salinity minus bottle results. For CE10002 both accuracy and precision are 0.008. For CE0903 precision is 0.004 and accuracy is 0.011.
    We did not take oxygen winkler samples in CE0903 and can therefore not calibrate the DO sensor. We did measure them in CE10002, however the sensor data is not corrected.
