During 2nd QC for GLODAPv2 deep nitrate for station 10 (bottles 26:36) were found to be about 1umol/kg higher than what was considered reasonable based on comparison to other data from the area. This flagging is in addition to that I sent into CCHDO/CDIAC on or about 11/11/13. In the attached file these nitrate values have all been flagged 3. In addition to the new file in exchange format, I've attached the crossover figure that identified the data points (this is not the only evidence, we are aware how variable things can be in this area).
The following files are now available online under 'Files as received', unprocessed by the CCHDO. 35MF19890730.exc.csv
12 deep nitrate samples were reflagged 3
Expocode: 35MF19890730 Ship: Marion Dufresne Woce Line: IR06 Note: Comparison to other cruises during inversion procedure indicated that nitrate data needed additional 1st QC. On re-check 12 deep nitrate samples that had been noted, but not flagged during original qc work were reflagged 3.

Corrected errors in bottle flags and silicate flags, 1st QC on silicate, nitrate and phosphate
Expocode: 35MF19890730 Ship: Marion Dufresne Woce Line: IR06 Note: Corrected errors in bottle flags and silicate flags Ran 1st QC on silicate, nitrate and phosphate
1. I corrected the bottle flag errors (set all to 2) 2. I reset the silicate flags to 2/9 for niskins with value/no_value 3. Then I ran a normal QC on the nutrient data (si, no3 and po4). The silicate and phosphate data are fair. Towards the last 1/3 of the trip they had some obvious problems with nitrate. I flagged quite a few 3/4 and probably should have done more. If anyone wants my full notes, I can send. 4. I reprinted the exchange format file and submitted. 5. Alex can simply replace his version with this one and add a note. CCHDO can now generate WOCE and netCDF from this corrected file; if the filename is changed the submitted file should be identical to what CCHDO would generate (other than the first record).Ran 1st QC on silicate, nitrate and phosphate
20090925 DBK Renamed all finished files from expocode_filetype to ir06_filetype to adhere to old WOCE conventions. eg. 35MF62JADE_1hy.txt is now ir06_chy.txt Updated all web files (ran web_update script) 20090916 DBK New 35MF62JADE_1 file sent by Bob Key. File has corrected flags. Reformatting of exchange bottle file: Edited EXPOCODE from 35MF19890730 to 35MF62JADE_1 Edited units for DELC14 and C14ERR from 0/00 to /MILLE edited Units: DEGC to DEG C, DBARS to DBAR Added Units: METERS for DEPTH parameter column Edited parameter TIME from all 0000 values to 2400 in order that the netcdf script will convert the exchange bottle file into netcdf files. once this parameter was edited the files converted with no apparent problems. Exchange file: 35MF62JADE_1_hy1.csv Netcdf file: 35MF62JADE_1_nc_hyd.zip Format checked in JOA, no apparent errors. Created WOCE-formatted bottle file. No errors detected. WOCE file: 35MF62JADE_1hy.txt 20090911 DBK NOTES: reformatting exchange bottle files for 35MF62JADE_1 and 35MF71JADE_1 sent by Bob Key on 2009.02.12 35MF62JADE_1: Edited EXPOCODE from 35MF19890730 to 35MF62JADE_1 Edited units for DELC14 and C14ERR from 0/00 to /MILLE NOTE: Although this file opened in JOA, after looking at some of the values, it was found that some parameters had flags of -999. this was brought up with Bob Key, the data provider and a new file was sent on 2009.09.15. This flie contained an column for TIME which was entirely filled with 0000. This column was removed and the data provider notified.
Previous submission missing ctdsf and had "missing value" value in place of 9 for many other flags. Fixed here
Action: Place Online Notes: Other than format, same as sent to Lynne, Philippe, Fieux, and Sarilee on 10/17/07 Note: new EXPOCODE format used
Attached is the merged file for the 1989 JADE cruise and my README file. A bit more metadata can be found at: http://www.ifremer.fr/sismer/UK/catal/campagne/campagnea.htql?crno=89010311 The last number in the Subject: is the EXPOCODE under the new definition. Data are from several sources and over several years. Minor QC has been done. A few He-3 points were flagged 3 and all alk from station 1 were flagged 3. I will send the 1992 file as soon as I've completed a final check. All data are public.
CT and AT in the JADE89 file are the DIC (total carbon) and AT (total alkalinity) in mmol/kg (old file, old units). Of course, you can incorporate these in the WHOI database. I think these are usefull data, because many stations where otbained close to the coasts where the water from the pacific enters the indian ocean. This section may be the only one to get that resolution near the coast, thanks to Michele Fieux.
St,cast, lat, lon, press, depth, pot T,S,O2,nit,phos,silic,F11 Sarilee and all - here are the bottle data from JADE 1 and JADE 2, which are called IR06C and IR06D. I got the files that are called jade... from Michele Fieux last February for a project I was doing and didn't know if they were public or not, so didn't forward them to you. A few weeks ago, I followed links in your ir06c doc file and arrived at Michele Fichaut, who is archiving these two data sets. She sent the JADE 2 data set (IR06D) in two formats. She has not yet finished with JADE1, as you'll see from her message. However, I think the data files I got from Fieux are as complete as what we would get later from Fichaut. There are still missing parameters in IR06C: tritium, helium especially, some carbon parameters. But you'll be able to tell which from your doc files.
I just find in my old papers that the sheet on the IR06 Repeat Cruises data have mistakes. If it is not too late, I join here the corrections as an attached word document, as I dont know how to change the original sheet. CTD I have converted the CTD exchange files corrected by Sarilee into netCDF and placed them online. Old files were renamed and moved to the original directory.
Lynne Talley noted that ctd station file ir060036.wct had the station number of 26 instead of 36 (see email below). I changed it to 36. While looking at the station I noted that the oxygen was in ml/l. I converted all the ctd stations from ml/l to umol/kg. The .sum file had a latitude of 06 60.00 for sta. 53. I changed it to 07 00.00. The .sum file had a date of 092489 for station 38. Since all the surrounding stations had the month as 08, I changed station 38 to 082489. Had to delete COR DEPTH from the .sum file in order to get the exchange files made.
In the WOCE format files, CTD station file ir06c0036.wct has a station number of 26 within the file. In the exchange format CTD files, there is no station 36. In the WOCe format files, the data content of station files for 26 and 36 is clearly different, AND the maximum pressure of the file labeled 36 matches the maximum depth of station 36 in the sum file. Therefore, I conclude that you need to: 1. change the station number in file ir06c0036.wct from 26 to 36 2. remake the exchange format file so that this station is included.
CTD were converted to exchange format and put online.
Any publications using these public data must reference "the Franco-Indonesian cooperation (PIs Fieux and Ilahude)"
I have corrected the minutes in the positions for the two JADE cruises and put the .sum files (ir06_asu.txt and ir06_bsu.txt) in INCOMING on whpo.
Are the latitudes and longitudes of the original .sum files in decimal degrees, or degrees and minutes? The positions in our current .sum files all have minutes that are no higher than ~ 35.
