35A3ROMANCHE_3 processing - CTD 2024-09-04 Elisa Aitoro Changes - changed the EXPOCODE from 35LLROMANCHE_3 to 35A3ROMANCHE_3 to reflect correct ship code - CTDOXY and CTDOXY_FLAG_W removed (all fill values with flag 9) - corrected typos in unit for CTDSAL that were present in multiple profiles 35A3ROMANCHE_3_ctd.nc opened in ODV with no apparent problems. Reformatted ctd files and made a .sum file from info in ctd files. Put files in ar15_m directory. Made exchange files, renamed files and zipped them. Put correct doc files sent by Jerry in ar15_m directory. EXPOCODE and ship name need to be corrected on web pages, and new files linked. Sent notes to Jerry.
I unzipped the reformatted exchange ctd files to rename the files to the correct exchange format, converted them to netcdf, rezipped them and place files online. I also generated station track images for this cruise, put the correct doc files up and remade the web page files. PLEASE NOTE the expocode still needs changing to indicate the correct ship.
Leg 3 only CTD in. some data info not even in english. were crnt mtr cruises from J Crease.
These data were ftp'd from Herle Mercier at IFREMER and comprise the WOCE AR15 cruises 35A3ROMANCHE_1, _2, and the WOCE current meter array ACM11 35A3ROMANCHE_3 which will also be listed as an AR15. Data obtained are NOT in WOCE format and all files need significant reformatting. Please see email below for comments regarding data. This email from Mercier has also been copied to meta-data manager. Some questions regarding header interpretation and units scales still remain and J. Crease will be contacted for clarification (data liaison). 35A3ROMANCHE_3: roma3*****.ecp - 29 CTD station files containing:PRESSION, TEMPERATURE, SALINITE, OXYGENE DISS. (in ml/l), OXYGENE DISS.(in um/kg) All files need reformatting. All depths are corrected (see email below). It is unclear what scales salinity and temperature are in. On 02 Jul 2001 James Crease wrote: > You annotate each of the bottle data with b and r. I am guessing that the r may be "doubtful". Is that right? r is doubtful indeed. For salinity and oxygen samples it means that the difference between the given sample and the CTD value was larger than 2.8 * standard deviation of all differences with a std computed over all samples for the given profile. For the upper layers it might be related to some variability as we use up-cast samples for the calibration of down-cast profiles. Obviously wrong data are not in the files. > Some Freons are negative-is that noise or something to do with "blanks". It has to do with blanks : those freon measurements were positive before substracting the blank. > Is the depth (fond) in the header a corrected depth or a 1500m/sec Sound velocity one? For Romanche 1 and 2 cruises, those are corrected depths. For romanche 3 we used 1500m/sec for the sound speed. Herle Mercier
