I send you the cruise report of Puerto Deseado cruise of March, 1996 (PD0196.pdf).
Data are still encrypted. The CTD was reformatted into WOCE using information from the headers and the sumfile. Exchange, NETCDF and inventory were created to test the data but all files are encrypted.

Bottle data was converted to exchange and linked to website. All data for this cruise remains non-public. The exchange bottle file was also encrypted. CTD are not in woce format and remain without exchange conversion to this date.
Bottle files for these cruises were submitted by M. Charo on 2001.11.26. These files were reformatted along with the previously submitted summary files. All files have been placed online and previous versions moved to the original directories. bottle files for 0394 and 0196 are still non-public, however another request for public release was sent to M. Charo and A. Piola on 2001.12.12.
All cruises listed above are missing CFCs. As no documentation exists, presence of CFC data needs to be confirmed. Currently the database list these parameters as outstanding. 1094 and 0196 are still missing nutrients, this too needs to be confirmed with PI's.
Please Note: data files for 08BD0394, 08EH1094 and 08PD0196 all contained underscores with leg 1. this needs to be changed in the database.
Also, previous correspondence has stated the 1997 Deseado cruise will not be submitted to whpo before the archive date. Confirmation request has been sent to M. Charo and A. Piola along with public release request mentioned above.

08BD1096:
Sea: Capitalized all units in header line.
NOTE: CTDTMP, and THETA are reported in IPTS-68, not ITS-90.
As per WOCE formatting I have changed the following units in the header:
CTDPRS DBARS was changed to DBAR
THETA ITPS-68 was changed to DEG C (according to WOCE manual), noting that scale is not ITS-90.
Realigned QUALT1 header.
Added underscore to expocode 08BD1096 to match sumfile, 08BD1096_1. This should be
changed in meta database.
Pressure sorted data.
Added time/name stamp.
Ran wocecvt with no errors.
Sum: Realigned columns.
changed expocode from 08BD1096/1 to 08BD1096_1.
Corrected lattitude for station 24 cast 1 BE: 41 22 80 S to 41 22.80 S
note several cast codes are missing latitudes and longitudes.
Added time/name stamp.
Ran sumchk with no errors.
Reporting files added to directory. Navigation files made for this cruise( *na.txt) JPG and GIF images added and linked to index.htm page. Post script file zipped and moved to original directory
The above expocodes & sum files were submitted by Marcela charo on 2001.11.05. These files have been placed in their corresponding directories and linked to the website. All however will need minor reformatting which has been noted on the index pages.
Please not the last three expocodes do not contain an _1 leg number however the data files do. It is unclear at this time if the index and website pages should be changed to reflect the expocode in the data.

I realize it's been almost a year or more since we've spoken about AR08 data, but once again I have a few questions for you. Regarding the most recently submitted cruises:
Balda March '93 (BD0493)
Balda August '93 (BD0993)
Balda March '94 (BD0394)
Holmberg September '94 (EH1094)
Puerto Deseado March '96 (PD0196)
We are lacking summary files (these files contain the cruise's station navigation information) and cruise reports. These files were missing from the data submission in March of 2000.
Can you tell me if there are station navigation files and cruise reports for the cruises listed above, and if so, may we obtain them at this time?
The CTD files appear to have beginning latitude and longitude in each station files, so if necessary we could construct the navigation file, but the cruise report is usually a document that comes from the Chief Scientist (in this case Piola).
For an example of a cruise report from the Chief Scientist, please see one of the other AR08 cruises (08EA0192_1, 08BD0491_1, 08EH0492_1) located on our repeat data website:

And finally, can please you update us on the status of the 1997 Deseado cruise and when we might expect the data? Anything that you can send us before the rush of printing the final WOCE CD ROM is greatly appreciated.
