Email dated 5/15/21 from Andrew McDonnell The datasets serve different purposes: 1) Ecotaxa* is where the data will be first available for access after cruise, primarily for exploratory purposes, but it is not really a proper and permanent data archive. 2) The Pangea dataset is permanent and far more comprehensive because it includes UVP data from all over the world's oceans. We plan to continually update this repository as new data are collected, however the refresh cycle is likely to be a couple of years, so it won't always have the most recently collected data in it. If you were to only include one dataset link on the repeat hydrography website, I think this would be it. 3) The BCO-DMO dataset is mainly to fulfill NSF's data management requirements. It represents a small subset of what is available in the global Pangea dataset, and the data are grouped by grant. * Instructions for UVP data access via Ecotaxa: • Navigate to https://ecotaxa.obs-vlfr.fr/ • Login or register • From home page, Click "Particle Module" • In the "Particle Project" field, type a line # e.g., "p16" and you will see the dataset(s): (uvp5_sn009_2015_p16n & uvp5_sn009_2015_p16n_goa) the second one is the east-west portion of the transect across the Gulf of Alaska • Click "Apply filters" button • Click "Export selection" button • Select the type of data you want, then click Start Task • You will receive access to a zip folder containing the data
