Files CTD62079.WCT and CTD62081.WCT were modified in the CTD zip file. They both had errors in the Station Numbers. New files were zipped up and replaced the ones online.

I have found a very minor problem with the zipped CTD files for cruise AR12c (74AB62_1, RRS Charles Darwin, Aug-Sep 1991) on the WHPO web page http://whpo.ucsd.edu/data/repeat/atlantic/ar12/ar12_c/index.htm of which I thought you might wish to be aware. The file for cast 79 (ctd62079.wct) lists STNNBR as " 9" and cast 81 (ctd62081.wct) as " 1". All other files give the correct cast numbers. This was causing me a bit of grief as I match STNNBR in the nav file with the STNNBRs in the CTD files when creating a single Matlab file for a section.

After some deliberation, I have made a decision concerning the labeling of the 74AB62/2 cruise of the Charles Darwin. First, this cruise will be re-labeled as an ERS1 cal/val cruise and not have a WOCE line designation. Fear not, I have no plan to remove the file from our online site. We do plan to move or link the 74AB62/2 cruise to a new WWW page listing "other quality controlled, high temporal resolution meteorology data". (Note: the expocode and facility attributes will reflect the changes noted by Dr. Saunders). For simplicity on our end, the 74AB62/1 cruise will continue to be labeled an AR_07E WOCE line within all files. The cruise will be cross referenced to AR12 on our WWW pages and FTP site. Any plans to link the meteorology data to all other WOCE data for these cruises will have to await a discussion of synthesis plans by the WOCE community. In addition, all the shortwave radiation data for both these cruises, found to be suspect by our data center, has been corrected. Peter Taylor notified us of the cause of the error and the necessary fix. An addendum to the QC report will outline changes in the RAD2 variable and the cruise labels. As for a time frame, we should have all the changes posted by the end of the year.
