Merging notes for i09n CDOM values. Data file sent by Norm Nelson on 2008.06.18. CDOM FILE: File sent by Norm Nelson was ucsb_cdom_i8si9n_s7a_resubmitted.txt This file contained both i08s and i09n updated absorption coefficients. The file was edited to strip out i08s stations. Header text was removed and parameter names were edited to reflect CCDHO's parameter list. File was edited to .csv format. The edited file name is cdom_i9n_resubmitted_edt.csv EXCHANGE BOTTLE FILE: In order to use the merge_exchange_bot.rb code, the online bottle file needed to be edited. SBE35T was edited to SBE35 PH was edited to PH_SWS PHTEMP was edited to PH_TEMP Units for PH_SWS were edited from SW to blank Units for all CDOM headers were edited from ABSXXX to 1/M Units for CDOMSL and CDOMSN were edited from 1/M to 1/NM as per our parameter tables MERGE: CDOM parameter (CDOM325, CDOM340, CDOM380, CDOM412, CDOMSN, CDOMSL) updates were merged using merge_exchange_bot.rb No errors were encountered. Merged file was compared to update file using the file compare tool. File was opened in JOA, mapped and plotted. No formatting errors or problems were detected. Output file named i09n_33RR20070322_merged_hy1.csv Citation information was prepended to top of file. Remaned file i09n_33RR20070322_hy1.csv NetCDF files were generated using exbot_to_netcdf.pl and checked using JOA, with no apparent errors. WOCE formatted bottle file was generated using exchange_to_woce.rb with no apparent errors. Name EXPOCODE header, WHP-ID and date stamp added. Attempted to format check WOCE bottle file using wocecvt, however at this time, the file width is too long and there are non-WOCE parameters that prohibit the usage of wocecvt for format checking. File will be put online in as-is condition. Previous online data files were renamed and moved to "original" subdirectory. New files were placed in parent directory and web_update.rb script was run to update database. These notes were mailed to Jerry Kappa.

2008.07.23 DBK Merging notes for final carbon parameters sent by Alex Kozyr on 2008.03.17 File submitted by Alex was I09N_2007_TCO2_TALK_PH_DOC_TN_final_hy1.csv This file was csv format and needed editing before mrgsea could be used. Edited file was fixed width spacing and pH missing values were changed from -999.0000 to -9, because the -999 missing value violates the maximum character field width for woce parameters Merged TALK, PH, DOC, TDN with no errors. Could not format check WOCE-formatted file with wocecvt, due to all non-WOCE parameter/header names (primarily CDOM headers, I believe). Resultant file was named i09n_33RR20070322hy.txt. Resultant bottle file i09n_33RR20070322hy.txt had header parameters for CDOM edited to include their wavelength in the mnemonic name: for example: CDOM at ABS of 412 becomes CDOM412; and so on thru CDOM555 in the original header. This facilitated their conversion into exchange format. Other edits to original header: PH_UM edited to PH PH_UM_T edited to PHTEMP CDOMSLOG edited to CDOMSL CDOMSNLF edited to CDOMSN Converted WOCE-formatted file to exchange with no errors, however format checking can not be completed with any existing software at this time, due to non_WOCE parameters. At this time netcdf files can not be generated from the exchange bottle file due to non-WOCE parameters all files were zipped with the citation information and placed online. Previous versions were renamed and moved to the original directory.

Here is complete CCHDO i09n_33RR20070322_hy1.csv file with merged ALKILI and PH and correct TCARBN missing values. I've copied this file from CCHDO just yesterday for merging, so it should be latest version. I did not change anything else in this file, so you can use it if you wish and put it online.

Data value correction from 20070921_09_05_Kozyr__Alex After merging final co2 received by Alex Kozyr on 20070920, another corrected bottle file was sent on 20070921. A "diff" of the two files indicated that only 3 station values were changed. Therefore these values were changed by hand in WOCE and exchange formatted files. Netcdf files were regenerated and zipped with citation information file. All files were placed online. Changes made were as follows: Station 193/cast 2/bottle 33/sample 33 tco2 and flag changed from 2170.1,2 to -999,9 Station 193/cast 2/bottle 32/sample 37 tco2 and flag changed from 2191.7,2 to 2170.1,2 Station 193/cast 2/bottle 31/sample 31 tco2 and flag changed from 2191.7,2 to 2221.1,6

20071022 DBK Merging NOtes for i09n_33RR20070322 Bottle file Final TCARBN was received by Alex Kozyr on 20070920. Merged final TCARBN data into WOCE formatted bottle file with no errors. Was not able to format check resulting merge output with woccvt due to the non-WOCE mnemonics contained within the file. Created new exchange file and prepended the data information citation to the header. The following non-WOCE parameters were not included in the conversion due to application constraints on parameter mnemonics: PH_UM PH_UM_T CDOM CDOMSLOG CDOMSNLF Created new netcdf files from above exchange file with no errors. Zipped files together along with data information citation. All files were placed online and previous versions were renamed and moved to the original directory.

All the I8S/I9N WHP-format data files are on the odf computer. We may rewrite the ".sea" files to report collected-but-not-yet- analyzed samples before all is said and done. It means modifying the database, I'll keep you posted.
