I've placed 1 new version of the cruise report: ns02_316N20020530do.pdf into the directory: co2clivar/arctic/ns02/ It includes summary pages and CCHDO data processing notes as well as a linked Table of Contents and links to figures, tables and appendices. It will be available on the cchdo website following the next update script run. Renamed previously online doc and moved it to "Original" directory.
Notes on NS02 bottle data. April 19, 2010 D. Muus EXPOCODE 316N20020530 1. Merged CARINA exchange file "316N20020530_hy1.csv"(20081218PRINUNIVRMK) TCARBN, ALKALI and SF6 into ODF exchange file "ns02_hy1.csv" (20050729WHPSIOdm). CARINA exchange file taken from CARINA project section of CCHDO website. Originally named "316N20020530.exc.csv". ODF exchange file was prepared for Jim Swift, July, 2005, from ODF cruise file. 2. Changed SF6 data format from 8 decimal places to 4 decimal places. 3. Modified Summary file ns02su.txt (20040311WJPOSIODM): Expocode "316N166.11" changed to "316N20020530". SECT_ID "NSeas" changed to "NS02". 4. Made new WOCE format bottle file from new Exchange file (20100406CCHDOSIODM)
To be consistent with other cruises, I'll convert the values into /kg units.
I attach a file with the SF6 in the 4th column (in femtomole/liter). The data are used for : In Press: M.-J. Messias, A.J. Watson, T. Johannessen, K.I.C. Oliver, K.A. Olsson, E. Fogelqvist, J. Olafsson, S. Bacon, J. Balle, N. Bergman, G. Budéus, M. Danielsen, J.-C. Gascard, E. Jeansson, S.R. Olafsdottir, K. Simonsen, T. Tanhua, K. Van Scoy, J. R. Ledwell (2005). The Greenland Sea Tracer Experiment 1996-2002: horizontal mixing and transport of Greenland Sea Intermediate Water. Progress In Oceanography. In preparation: M.-J. Messias, A.J. Watson, T. Johannessen, J-C Gascard, A. Olsson, B Smethie. Mixing and transport in the Greenland Sea for the 1996-2003 period from a tracer experiment. Please let le know if someone request the SF6 data to avoid duplicate studies on the same data set.

April 1, 2004 >>Preliminary CTDO data - Nordic Seas 2002 Contents of the directory NS02/WHPRP.P1 (approximately 8.3 Mbytes): ns02README.ctd comments regarding data release and documentation ns02.sum WOCE-format station-cast description file (ODF version) ssscc.ctd stations 1-159 ctd data files: 160 total casts* (ssss = station number cc = cast number) *NOTE: 15401.ctd and 15491.ctd are DOWN and UP casts for sta 154 cast 1 ns02READMEpdoc comments regarding preliminary documentation ns02prelimdoc.pdf prelim. documentation in pdf format ns02prelimdoc.asc prelim. documentation in ascii/plain text - minus figures See ns02READMEpdoc for descriptions of the 3 preliminary documentation files. The ctdoxy section and the bottle data chart have been updated in the documentation as well. These preliminary CTDO data have shipboard Pressure/Temperature/Conductivity corrections applied. The status of these corrections is documented in the ns02prelimdoc files. Despiking for TCO data has been completed since the shipboard files. The CTD oxygen data now have preliminary fits applied, and the documentation updated to reflect this. Stations 40-67 and four casts that did not previously fit (used corrections from nearby casts before) have had their oxygens re-fit; see the documentation for details on those corrections. In addition, improved oxygen-fitting software was run over the remaining casts; this changed the ctd oxygen data in both the bottle and ctd files. (The changes appear to be insignificant in most cases, based on comparisons of "before" and "after" plots.) The CTD oxygen data for stations 40-67 is provided for convenience only, and no claims are made about its accuracy at all. The other casts' corrections could be determined from fits to bottle oxygen data taken on their casts. Casts have not yet been overlaid to check for cast-to-cast problems. The fits for stations 126-159 have not been optimized as well as stations 1-39 and 68-125; this is mostly visible in the surface data. CTD quality coding has not been changed from default "2", although extrapolated surface points are automatically reported as "6". QUESTIONS: Chief Scientist/PI: Dr. William M. April 1, 2004 >>Preliminary ODF documentation - Nordic Seas 2002 (revised) Contents: ns02READMEpdoc comments regarding preliminary documentation ns02prelimdoc.pdf prelim. documentation in pdf format ns02prelimdoc.asc prelim. documentation in ascii/plain text - minus figures This is an update to the preliminary documentation distributed in December 2002. Preliminary CTD oxygen processing comments are now included, and other documentation and charts have been updated. This should completely replace any ODF documentation previously distributed. The complete preliminary documentation is in ns02doc.pdf or ns02doc.asc. The figures in the first few pages of the pdf version (cruise track and sample distribution plots) may take a few minutes to print out due to the high volume of data in them. The ".pdf" file can be printed out using Adobe Acrobat Reader, freely available at the following website: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html The version in ns02prelimdoc.asc is available for those who cannot use the pdf versions. Note that figures in the documentation can only be printed with the pdf version and do not appear in the ascii version. Also, the ascii file is intended to be printed out at 80 lines per page with a 90-character page width - typically elite print. The right margin of the ascii version is staggered and lines do not begin with any white space at the request of P.I.s who wish to merge parts of the ascii file into other cruise documentation.
